Import property listings from a CSV spreadsheet

Download the current template, preview each row and create drafts before adding photos and submitting them for review.

For: Agents & developers, Landlords, Agency teams2 min readReviewed

Before you start

  • Open My listings in the account that should own the drafts. Check the current import guidance, row and file-size limits.
  • A CSV import creates drafts. It does not publish properties, upload photographs or complete your marketing acknowledgements.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open My listings and choose Import CSV. Download the header-only template and read the field guidance.
  2. Enter one listing per row using the required columns and supported values. Save the spreadsheet as CSV UTF-8 rather than uploading an Excel workbook with a renamed extension.
  3. Choose the CSV file and request a preview. Nothing is created at this stage.
  4. Review every ready and refused row, including its validation message. Leave out any ready rows you do not want to create, or correct the original file and preview it again.
  5. Confirm the intended ready rows before the preview expires. Read the created, refused and deliberately skipped counts in the result.
  6. Open each resulting draft to add accurate photos, complete required consents and resolve readiness issues before submitting it for review.

A preview is a specific batch

Changing the spreadsheet on your computer does not change a preview already returned by the platform. Choose the corrected file and generate another preview. An expired preview also needs a new upload.

Repeating confirmation of the same preview is designed to return that batch's result without creating its rows twice. Uploading the file as a new batch is different and can create another set of drafts, so check the register before doing so.

Troubleshooting

The upload says the file is empty or too large
Use the current template, include actual data rows and split an oversized file according to the displayed limit. Re-select the corrected file.
Only some rows were imported
Read the per-row results. Correct only the rows that were refused or left out; do not start a new import of successful rows without checking existing drafts.
