Questions to ask before booking a short let

Confirm the unit, stay dates, charges and arrival arrangements before booking.

Confirm the exact accommodation

Ask whether the photographs show the specific unit you will occupy. Confirm the number of bedrooms, bathrooms and guests allowed, plus whether any part of the accommodation is shared. Request current photographs or a live walkthrough when the details are unclear.

Get the full booking terms

Record arrival and departure dates, check-in times, minimum stay, total price and the period covered by that price. Ask about cleaning fees, deposits, extra guests and the cancellation or date-change process.

Ask what the deposit covers, how deductions are assessed and when any balance is returned. Keep the booking confirmation and receipts somewhere you can access during the stay.

Check everyday services

Confirm how electricity, water, internet and housekeeping are provided. Ask whether usage limits or extra charges apply and who to contact if a service stops. If you need to work remotely, ask about the specific connection rather than assuming that Wi-Fi means a particular speed.

Plan arrival and support

Agree how keys or access codes will be handed over and how late arrivals are handled. Ask who can help during the stay. Confirm the recipient and their authority to accept a booking before sending funds.
